While everyone was stuck inside for the last year, some shiny new stadiums debuted … just without anyone in the stands. But now that fans are being let back into the seats, let’s look at the biggest and best new venues that you should definitely visit first.
SoFi Stadium
SoFi Stadium is the current home of the Los Angeles Rams and Chargers as of September 2020. The impressive stadium has already been approved to host premier sporting events such as the 2022 Super Bowl, 2023 CFP Championship and 2028 Olympic Games.
The total cost to build the stadium was around an astonishing $5 billion. And when you enter the stadium, you will first notice the 120-yard long Oculus video board shaped like a halo hanging over the field. It is currently the biggest and most expensive video board in professional sports.
The clear dome roof and open sides make spectators feel like you are outside. A unique aspect of the stadium is the field-level cabana suites behind the end zone. To complement the California vibe, there is also a lake and a small waterfall outside.
If you can’t make a game, SoFi Stadium also has Stadium Tour tickets at a pretty cheap cost of $30-$49.
Allegiant Stadium
Allegiant Stadium is home to the Las Vegas Raiders and UNLV football. In addition, the stadium will host the 2021 Pac 12 Championship Game, Las Vegas Bowl, and Vegas Kickoff Classic. The Raiders played their home games during the 2020-21 season in Allegiant, but no fans were admitted.
Nicknamed the “Death Star” because of its appearance, the stadium has black tinted panels surrounding the outside. In the middle of the Peristyle Club, the Al Davis Memorial Torch stands 85 feet tall and has a bar area surrounding it. It is the largest 3D printed structure in the world. The stadium also features a retractable roof and an MGM betting lounge with mobile wagering options open as well. The price of the stadium ended up around $1.9 billion.
Allegiant Stadium will have its first concert, Garth Brooks, on July 10 this summer. If you are also looking to wager at the casinos during your Las Vegas trip, the stadium is just a short walk away to the Strip. Stadium Tour tickets are available now for $53-$80.
Globe Life Field
Globe Life Field is the most recent addition to MLB’s historic fields and is the Texas Rangers’ home in Arlington. The stadium’s March 2020 opening was delayed by the pandemic until May 29, 2020, and the first major event held there was the 2020 MLB Playoffs and World Series.. And Globe Life Field already allows 100 percent capacity currently.
A key feature is a retractable roof, as well as air conditioning to beat the heat of Texas summers. Another distinct feature of Globe Life Field is the Dugout Club — a sunken seating area along each dugout stretching to the foul poles. The seats give spectators an up-close and live-action view of the game.
If you can’t make a ballgame, they have a full schedule of concerts this summer. Chris Stapleton, Green Day, Weezer, Motley Crue, Def Leppard, and more will make appearances. Tour tickets are also available on the Rangers website.
