Baseball season is in full swing…and if your fantasy team isn’t doing so well, why not buy tickets to an MLB game and root on your favorite team in-person. No baseball game is complete without a few brews and some bites. If spending $20 per drink in the stadium sounds out-of-pocket, you’re in luck. There are tons of bars to appease every ball game-goer within close proximity to every MLB stadium. Here are 4 bars you should grab a drink at before your next MLB game.
Bar: Cask ‘n Flagon
Team: Boston Red Sox
Cask ‘n Flagon has been a staple of Fenway Park since 1969. If you’re in search of a pre-game drink, Cask ‘n Flagon is the perfect spot because it is right across the street from the stadium! But, be sure to get there plenty early on a home game day. It fills up quickly, and for good reason. Cask ‘n Flagon is a state-of-the-art sports bar: over 40 large-screen T.V.’s, indoor and outdoor patio space, Red Sox memorabilia galore, and a menu full of all of your American favorites. Plus, lots of ice cold beer.
Bar: Murphy’s Bleachers
Team: Chicago Cubs
Similar to Cask ‘n Flagon, Murphy’s Bleachers is a sports bar right across the street from Wrigley Field’s bleacher section. Hence the name. It’s one of the oldest bars in the area and has become nationally renowned as the best place to go before and after Cub games for fans and players alike. There’s Cubs memorabilia all over for you to enjoy as well as a sunny outdoor patio and rooftop bar. If you head to Murphy’s Bleachers for a drink before a Cubs game, you’re guaranteed to fit right in among the super fans.
Bar: Sandlot Southeast
Team: Washington Nationals
Sandlot Southeast is a newer spot near Nationals Park, but it’s one that’s well-worth stopping for before hitting the game. It’s a large venue space near the stadium that showcases Black-owned restaurants with both indoor and outdoor seating and live entertainment. The cool part is that there are always new restaurants being showcased, so there’s always a new drink or food item to try. If you’re heading to a Nationals game with your family, Sandlot Southeast is an accommodating stop for everyone.
Bar: Terrapin Taproom at The Battery Atlanta
Team: Atlanta Braves
The Battery is a large entertainment space right next to Truist Park. The Battery is another perfect spot for families going to a Braves game together because there’s a wide variety of restaurants, ongoing events, and places to shop. But if you’re looking for a drink, Terrapin Taproom is the place to go. They offer the three staples of the south: beer, barbecue, and baseball. There’s also a prime view of their five-barrel brewhouse from the inside, where the brewers experiment with all sorts of different styles of beer – including some baseball-themed ones.
